Zamalek striker Nasser Mansi training alone after indefinite suspension
Zamalek have suspended striker Nasser Mansi indefinitely and ordered him to train alone following an incident during his celebration of the winning goal against Rwanda’s APR in the CAF Champions League.
The Egyptian club also referred the forward for an investigation after he threw his shirt to the ground following his decisive strike in the first leg of their second preliminary-round tie.
According to Egyptian outlet Yalla Kora, Zamalek’s technical staff instructed Mansi to train separately on the auxiliary pitch at the Air Defence Stadium before the team’s scheduled group session at 15:00 local time.
A source told the outlet that the suspension would remain in place indefinitely following an investigation conducted in Rwanda by the club’s football director, Abdel Nasser Mohamed.
Mansi’s reaction came after he scored the winning goal, with Zamalek captain Omar Gaber and other teammates intervening to surround the striker and celebrate the important victory.
The goal was Mansi’s fifth for Zamalek in the CAF Champions League. He previously scored a hat-trick against Sudanese side Al-Merrikh during the 2023 group stage.
He also found the net against Djibouti champions ES Port in the current campaign before scoring against APR.
Zamalek must now manage the disciplinary situation as they prepare to face Assiut Petroleum in the Egyptian Premier League on Tuesday, with the match forming part of the seventh round of the 2026-27 season.
