Zamalek gave their fans something to cheer about with a determined 2-1 comeback win over Ghazl El Mahalla in a pre-season friendly played Thursday at their home ground in the New Administrative Capital.
Despite going behind early, the Cairo giants stayed composed and found their rhythm in the second half, led by goals from Nasser Mansi and Seifeddine Jaziri.
The match began with Zamalek pressing high but lacking sharpness in front of goal. Chico Banza and Nasser Maher both came close, but Amer Amer stood firm in Mahalla’s goal.
Mahalla capitalized on a counterattack in the 24th minute, when Soliman Andi slotted home the opener. That goal sparked Zamalek into action. Chico Banza forced another save from Amer, but it wasn’t until the second half that the tide turned.
Mansi leveled in the 52nd minute with a confident finish after connecting with Omar Gaber’s delivery. Then in the 72nd minute, a slick exchange between Banza and Jaziri saw the Tunisian coolly slot home the winner.
Zamalek looked sharper and more cohesive as they saw out the win.
