Zamalek have been handed a fitness concern ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup final clash against Algeria’s USM Alger, with Brazilian forward Juan Bezerra racing against time to be fit for the decisive encounters.

Despite picking up a pelvic injury during the team’s recent league outing against Smouha, Bezerra has been included in the travelling squad that departed Cairo for Algeria.

The decision signals the technical bench’s determination to keep the attacker involved as preparations intensify for the first leg scheduled for Saturday night.

Zamalek’s coaching crew, led by Moataz Gamal, are understood to be closely monitoring the player’s condition, with a tailored recovery and rehabilitation programme already lined up. The aim is to give Bezerra every chance of featuring, whether in the first leg away in Algeria or, if necessary, the return fixture in Cairo.

The Egyptian giants face USM Alger in what promises to be a tightly contested final, with the opening leg set to take place at 10 pm on Saturday. The second leg is scheduled for May 16 at Cairo International Stadium, where Zamalek will hope to have all key players available as they push for continental glory.

Bezerra’s availability could prove crucial, given his attacking influence, but his fitness remains uncertain as the countdown to kickoff continues.
