Zamalek gave fans an early taste of excitement ahead of the new season with a 5-4 comeback win over Suns Club in a wild friendly played at their stadium in the New Administrative Capital.
The Cairo giants found themselves trailing 2-4 by halftime despite an early opener from Seifeddine Jaziri in the 12th minute. Shams Club responded with two quick goals before adding a third in the 37th minute. Ahmed Hamdy cut the deficit with a penalty in the 40th, but the visitors struck again moments later.
With several changes made at the break, Zamalek came out stronger. Ahmed Sherif made it 3-4 in the 53rd minute, then Nasser Mansi levelled things up in the 64th. The comeback was sealed when new signing Chico Banza netted the winner in the 81st minute.
Zamalek’s technical staff also gave minutes to key players like Mahmoud Hamdy El-Wensh, Omar Gaber, and Nabil Emad Dunga.
It was a chaotic but thrilling test, and Zamalek’s response under pressure offered a promising sign ahead of competitive action.
