Zamalek source denies Hossam El-Zanaty wants Moataz Gamal to leave

A source at Zamalek has denied reports that Hossam El-Zanaty wants Moataz Gamal to leave his position as head coach.

El-Zanaty is expected to take up the role of sporting director at Zamalek in the coming period.

“What has been reported about Hossam El-Zanaty wanting Moataz Gamal to leave as coach is not true,” the source told FilGoal.com. “El-Zanaty is one of his biggest supporters and attended the friendly match between El Sharqia and ENPPI to support the team.”

The source also criticised the reports and said they were intended to affect Zamalek before their upcoming league meeting with Al Ahly.

“Using such methods and spreading this type of news is a cheap attempt to influence the team before the match against Al Ahly in the league,” the source added. “Zamalek will not remain silent in the face of these rumours.”

El-Zanaty attended the friendly between El Sharqia and ENPPI, which ended in a 2-1 victory for the latter.

Zamalek are preparing to face ZED on Wednesday in the opening round of the Egypt Capital Cup.

They will then meet Al Ahly on Sunday in the sixth round of the Egyptian Premier League.
