Zamalek is on the verge of sealing a key midfield addition, as the club edges closer to signing National Bank talent Ahmed Rabia.
Talks have accelerated in recent days, with sources from Zamalek confirming the player has agreed to join the club.
According to an insider at the club who spoke to Kooora, Zamalek has secured Ahmed Rabia’s approval, with only final formalities remaining.
“There is a change in the position of the bank after the resolution of the contract with Amr Al-Jazzar and Mohammed Ashraf players Ghazl Al-Mahalla,” the source revealed.
This shift has cleared the way for Ahmed Rabia’s likely departure, as National Bank appears ready to let him go. Ashraf is expected to step in as Ahmed Refai’s replacement following strong behind-the-scenes efforts led by Zamalek’s sporting director, John Edward.
The same source dismissed rumors that National Bank had demanded Zamalek winger Mustafa Shalabi in return, though there is interest in acquiring Sayed Abdullah from the club.
Ahmed Rabia joined National Bank in January 2024 from New Track FC.
