Zamalek are preparing to include a large number of young players in their Egypt Capital Cup campaign, with head coach Moataz Gamal expected to give opportunities to members of the club’s youth set-up.
FilGoal.com understands there is a strong feeling within Zamalek that as many academy players as possible should feature in the tournament. Particular attention is being given to players from the 2007 team and the best performers from the 2009 age group.
A group of those youngsters have been included in first-team training as the club prepares for the competition.
Zamalek will begin their group-stage campaign against ZED, with the match scheduled for Thursday, 8 October.
The Cairo club have been drawn in Group A alongside ZED, Wadi Degla, Tala’ea El Gaish and Al Ittihad Alexandria.
Only the top two teams from each group will progress to the next stage.
Zamalek will also be without several players who have been called up for international duty. Goalkeeper El Mahdy Soliman and defender Ahmed Fathy have been selected by Egypt, while Oday Dabbagh and Adam Kaied have been called up by Palestine.
Angola have also summoned Chico Banza for their national team.
