Just six minutes later, an unfortunate own goal from Al Ittihad’s El Deeb sealed the victory for Zamalek, giving them a comfortable 2-0 lead and ensuring the three points.
This win lifts Zamalek SC to the top of the league table with 14 points, overtaking other competitors in the process.
In contrast, Al Ittihad FC remains in 7th place with 9 points after their loss.
Elsewhere, Haras El Hedood also claimed a resounding 3-0 win over El Geish in another match played on the same day, adding to the excitement of Sunday’s fixtures.
Zamalek will now look to build on this victory as they aim to maintain their position at the summit of the Egyptian Premier League.
