Zamalek reshuffles squad and eases financial tensions ahead of National Bank clash
Zamalek manager Yannick Ferreira has announced the squad for the match against National Bank in the 12th round of the Egyptian Premier League, to be played Thursday evening at Cairo International Stadium.
Notably, rising midfielder Mohamed El Sayed remains excluded, following recent controversy and missed opportunity from a penalty in the last CAF Confederation Cup match. Despite Ferreira’s earlier support for the talented 20-year-old, his absence continues due to contract renewal disagreements and public pressure.
The squad features goalkeepers Mohamed Sobhi, Mahdy Suleiman, and Mahmoud El Shenawy; defenders Omar Gaber, Baron Oshing, Mahmoud Hamdy El Wensh, Hossam Abdelmagid, Mohamed Ismail, Ahmed Fattouh, Mahmoud Bentaig; midfielders Nabil Emad Dunga, Ahmed Rabie, Mohamed Shehata, Seif Jaafar, Abdallah El Said, Nasser Maher, Abdelhameed Maali, Chico Banza, and Juan Bezzera; attackers Adi Debagh, Seif El Jaziri, and Amr Nasser. Absent are Adam Kayed, Ahmed Sherif, and Nasser Mansi, ruled out with fitness issues.
In a move to restore dressing room morale, Zamalek’s management led by Hussein Labib released a portion of overdue player payments. “Clearing part of the players’ financial dues is vital for motivation before our crucial fixtures,” a source told Kooora, addressing earlier frustrations.
The club aims to focus on positive performances and unity as it faces domestic and continental challenges.
