Zamalek request full capacity at Cairo Stadium for Club Africain clash
Zamalek have officially approached the Egyptian Football Association, requesting approval for supporters to attend their CAF Champions League group-stage encounter against Club Africain at full capacity at the Cairo International Stadium.
The Egyptian giants are keen to enjoy maximum home support when they welcome the Tunisian outfit in their opening Group B fixture, scheduled for one of the days between November 27 and 29.
According to reports from Egypt, Zamalek have submitted an official letter to the football association seeking permission to fill the stadium to its full capacity for the important continental encounter.
The club believe strong support from their supporters could provide a major boost as they begin their campaign in a challenging group featuring Club Africain, Tanzania’s Young Africans and Algeria’s Mouloudia Club of Algiers.
Meanwhile, Zamalek have also contacted the Cairo International Stadium authorities, requesting that the match be played at 6pm on Saturday, November 28.
The White Knights are also insisting that the planned winter grass planting at the venue be postponed until after the encounter to ensure the pitch remains suitable for the fixture.
Zamalek secured their place in the group stage after eliminating Rwanda’s APR FC, recording 1-0 victories in both legs of their second preliminary-round tie.
The Egyptian side will be hoping to make a strong start to their continental campaign, with the backing of a full house potentially providing an added advantage against their Tunisian opponents.
However, the request for full-capacity attendance remains subject to approval from the relevant authorities.
