Egyptian giants Zamalek SC have officially requested foreign referees for their final league match of the season against Ceramica Cleopatra FC on May 20 as the White Knights edge closer to the Egyptian Premier League title.

The Cairo-based club are on the verge of reclaiming domestic supremacy and require only a draw from the decisive fixture to mathematically secure the league crown.

Zamalek currently sit at the top of the Egyptian Premier League table with 53 points heading into the final round of matches, placing themselves firmly in control of the title race.

According to reports in Egypt, club officials have formally communicated their desire for foreign match officials to oversee the encounter in a move aimed at ensuring neutrality and reducing controversy in what is expected to be a high-pressure title decider.

The request comes amid heightened tension surrounding the closing stages of the Egyptian top-flight campaign, with scrutiny over officiating decisions continuing to dominate discussions among clubs and supporters.

A victory or draw against Ceramica Cleopatra would confirm Zamalek as league champions, marking a significant achievement for the club after an intense season-long battle at the summit of the standings.

Ceramica Cleopatra, however, are expected to provide stern opposition as they seek to finish the campaign strongly against one of the country’s most decorated clubs.

The Egyptian Football Association is yet to officially respond to Zamalek’s request for foreign referees ahead of the crucial encounter.
