Zamalek release four youth-team players including Anas Wael

Zamalek have decided to release four members of their youth team, including Anas Wael, as part of their preparations for the new season.

The Egyptian club have also informed Ahmed Magdy, Abdelrahman Kamal and Ayman Amir Abdel Aziz that they will not remain with the squad, following a technical decision by the coaching staff.

Zamalek had already omitted the four players from the initial squad list submitted to the Egyptian Football Association. Their removal from that list indicated that they were not included in the club’s plans for the coming campaign.

Despite that decision, Anas Wael and Ayman Amir Abdel Aziz had trained with the first team during the recent period. Both players were involved in the senior side’s preparations before the club reached its final decision over their futures.

Zamalek are currently holding a pre-season training camp in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital. The camp forms part of the club’s preparations for a demanding campaign across domestic and continental competitions.

During the new season, Zamalek are scheduled to compete in the Egyptian Premier League, the Egypt Cup, the Egyptian League Cup, the CAF Champions League and the Egyptian Super Cup.

Their league campaign will begin against Al Ittihad Alexandria in the opening round of the Egyptian Premier League. The club will therefore start the defence of the title they won last season.

That triumph was Zamalek’s 15th Egyptian Premier League title. The club will now continue preparations with a reshaped group as they seek to compete on several fronts.

The departures of the four youth-team players come before the start of the new season and follow the coaching staff’s assessment of the squad. Anas Wael, Ahmed Magdy, Abdelrahman Kamal and Ayman Amir Abdel Aziz were all informed that they would not form part of Zamalek’s plans, despite two of them having trained with the first team in recent weeks.

The club’s decision was also reflected in the initial registration process, with all four names removed from the list sent to the Egyptian Football Association. Zamalek’s immediate focus is now on completing their pre-season work at the New Administrative Capital before their opening league fixture against Al Ittihad Alexandria.

Their schedule will include five competitions, with the Egyptian Premier League and Egypt Cup joined by the Egyptian League Cup, the CAF Champions League and the Egyptian Super Cup. Zamalek enter the campaign as reigning Egyptian Premier League champions after securing the competition for the 15th time in their history.
