Zamalek regain stability with Mamdouh Abbas support

Zamalek’s camp breathed easier on Friday after part of the players’ unpaid dues was finally settled, easing weeks of tension inside the dressing room.

The club’s board, led by Hussein Labib, managed to provide funds with the backing of former president Mamdouh Abbas, whose intervention proved key in bringing financial calm at a crucial moment.

The White Knights had resumed group training ahead of their Egyptian Premier League clash with Al Masry SC on September 13. Several players had grown increasingly frustrated over delayed payments, voicing concerns about promises not being met. The injection of funds helped restore focus as the squad turned its attention back to football.

Abbas’s support ensured the board could meet part of its commitments, restoring confidence in the buildup to an important fixture. The gesture was seen by many around the club as a timely lifeline.

Meanwhile, Belgian coach Yannick Ferreira scheduled a friendly against Nogoom FC on Sunday. He also requested a second match during the international break to give new signings more minutes and help them settle into the squad.
