Zamalek refuses to play summit match against Al Ahly next tuesday
Taking to his official Facebook account, Ahmed Salem stated, “The board of directors of Zamalek Club, led by Hussien Labib, reaffirms its adherence to the four demands outlined in the statement issued on June 17 following the match against Almasry SC.
There is absolutely no truth to the rumors of any retreat from these demands or any change in our position. We urge media outlets, programs, and social media pages to ensure accuracy in their reporting.”
Days ago, Zamalek had declared their refusal to participate in any second-round matches until all competing teams complete their first-round fixtures in a logically structured manner, free from personal interventions.
In a statement released after their defeat to Almasry SC in the Premier League, Zamalek asserted, “The Zamalek team will not participate in any second-round matches until all competing teams complete their first-round fixtures in a logically structured manner, free from personal interventions.”
The statement continued, “A neutral committee should be appointed from outside the Football Association and the Clubs Association to reorganize and rearrange the league matches to ensure complete neutrality.”
Further clarification stated, “The upcoming Farco match will be Zamalek’s last match before receiving a complete schedule of all remaining matches until the end of the league season, provided that all our previous demands are met.”
The board of Zamalek Club appealed to all concerned parties responsible for organizing and managing the tournament to uphold their responsibilities and recognize the fairness and legality of Zamalek’s demands.
The match between Al Ahly and Zamalek is scheduled for next Tuesday, June 25, 2024, marking the 27th round of the Egyptian League.
