Zamalek reach settlement agreement over former goalkeeper coach’s FIFA case

Zamalek have reached an agreement to settle the financial dispute involving former goalkeeper coach Vitor Pereira, with the club set to pay $25,000 instead of the $40,000 originally claimed.

The Portuguese coach had turned to FIFA after seeking payment from Zamalek and receiving no response to his attempts to contact the club.

The settlement was reached after negotiations led by Nasser Azam. The agreement resolves the case after the coach filed a complaint against Zamalek with football’s world governing body.

The report also refers to the coach as Nuno Costa, stating that Zamalek agreed a settlement with him following the contacts conducted by Azam. Costa left his position at the end of last season, with Ayman Taher taking over as the club’s goalkeeper coach.

Zamalek have also been preparing to make payments to former players Fergani Sassi and Samson Akinyoola in the coming days. The club has already sent instalments owed to Omar Faraj and Ibrahima Ndiaye.

Sassi had previously accepted a settlement proposed by Zamalek to resolve the case he had lodged with FIFA. The former player had been seeking $450,000, but the figure rose to approximately $505,000 after the addition of 5% interest for each year.

The club had earlier sent an instalment of Samson’s outstanding money through its Zamalakawy application.

Samson, 26, spent two seasons with Zamalek before leaving the club in 2024. He made 37 appearances for the Cairo side, scoring five goals and providing one assist.

Zamalek had already transferred the instalments due to Palestinian forward Omar Faraj and Senegalese player Ibrahima Ndiaye as part of efforts to settle outstanding financial claims.
