Zamalek SC has officially launched a fresh challenge against a recent ruling that dismissed its case involving former star Ahmed Mostafa Zizo.
The Cairo giants are disputing the Disciplinary Committee’s declaration that it lacks the authority to hear Zamalek’s original complaint, one that centers around Zizo’s abrupt departure and subsequent move to rivals Al Ahly.
Determined not to let the matter rest, Zamalek’s board has submitted a grievance to the same committee that dismissed the case. This action is seen as the first move in what may become a series of escalations.
According to Kooora, Zamalek is prepared to take the case to the Players’ Affairs Committee if the grievance is denied.
Club officials are compiling a comprehensive file on the Zizo situation, including his training no-shows, and his travel to the U.S. for the Club World Cup, events that Zamalek claims breached his existing contract.
The club’s original complaint, filed on May 1, argues that Zizo’s absence hurt the team during a pivotal stretch of the season.
