Zamalek began their preparations for the new season with a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Ra’a Sport in a friendly match on Friday.

The Whites controlled most of the game but were made to work for the win, with Ra’a Sport sitting deep and aiming to break on the counter.

Nasser Maher netted the only goal of the match in the 27th minute after a neat pass from Ahmed Abdel Rahim Esho, finishing calmly to give Zamalek the lead.

Zamalek remained on the front foot throughout the first half, pressing for a second. Angolan forward Chico Banza thought he had doubled the advantage in the 40th minute, but his goal was ruled out for offside. The first half ended with Zamalek narrowly ahead.

In the second half, Mahdi Soliman replaced Mohamed Awad in goal. Zamalek continued to push forward with intensity, creating several chances but failing to find the back of the net again.

Despite dominating possession and territory, the scoreline remained unchanged as the match ended 1-0 in favor of the Cairo giants.
