Zamalek’s preparations for their crucial clash with Al Ahly have been clouded by frustration over match invitations.

Officials at the club voiced displeasure after receiving what they felt was unfair treatment from their rivals.

The White Knights sit top of the Egyptian Premier League table with 17 points from eight games. Their long-time rivals Al Ahly trail in sixth place with 12 points from seven matches, setting the stage for a heated encounter next Monday.

“What Al Ahly officials did regarding the summit invitations is inappropriate, as only 25 invitations were sent to Zamalek,” a source told Kooora.

“Al-Ahly sent 25 invitations, 20 for the main box and five for the front box, so the same treatment will be applied in the upcoming summit matches.”

Despite the tension, Zamalek Chairman Hussein Labib chose calm, instructing board members not to escalate the issue to protect team focus. Meanwhile, coach Yannick Ferreira gave players a short rest before resuming training Friday at the Military College Stadium.
