The Egyptian Football Association’s Disciplinary Committee has taken firm action against a member of Zamalek’s leadership following a complaint filed by Al Ahly.
In its latest ruling, the committee handed Hany Shoukry, a board member of Zamalek SC, a three-month ban from entering stadiums after a video surfaced on social media allegedly showing him verbally abusing Al Ahly fans. Along with the ban, Shoukry has also been fined 50,000 Egyptian pounds.
“The Disciplinary Committee has decided to ban Zamalek board member Hany Shoukry from entering stadiums for three months for his alleged abuse of Al Ahly fans,” the EFA statement read.
“This comes in light of a complaint filed by Al-Ahly against Hany Shoukry’s transgressions against the Red Devils and their fans, in a video clip circulating on social media,” it added.
The incident has sparked renewed tension between Egypt’s two biggest clubs. While Zamalek has not officially commented, the ruling highlights the Disciplinary Committee’s intent to clamp down on unsportsmanlike behavior, even at the executive level.
