Zamalek received a welcome boost ahead of their highly anticipated Egyptian Premier League clash with rivals Al Ahly as Nabil Emad Donga was declared fit for the encounter.

The midfielder, who had been under observation in recent weeks, has completed training sessions without issue and is expected to be a vital figure for the Whites on Monday night.

However, the Cairo giants will head into the game missing another important name. A source within Zamalek’s medical staff confirmed that Mohamed Shehata will not recover in time to feature against Al Ahly. Shehata, who has been sidelined with injury, is still undergoing treatment and rehabilitation. “He participated normally in the recent training sessions, and the player is ready for the summit match,” the source added about Donga’s availability.

Shehata’s program is expected to end in four days, after which he will undergo a medical check to determine his readiness for group training.

Zamalek currently sit top of the table with 17 points, holding a five-point lead over sixth-placed Al Ahly, though the Whites have played one game more.
