Zamalek midfielder Ahmed Rabie ruled out with fractured nose

Zamalek midfielder Ahmed Rabie is expected to be sidelined for at least two weeks after suffering a fractured nose, the player confirmed on Sunday.

The 25-year-old sustained the injury during Zamalek’s 1-0 away victory over Rwanda’s APR in the first leg of the second preliminary round on Friday.

His absence comes at a busy period for the Egyptian club, who face Assiut Petroleum in a league fixture on Tuesday before hosting APR in the return leg at Cairo Stadium on Saturday.

Rabie joined Zamalek from NBE Club in the summer of 2025 and has become a regular in central midfield this season, featuring alongside Abdallah El-Saed and Mohamed Shehata.

He has made nine appearances in all competitions since the start of the campaign.

The injury is another setback for Zamalek’s coach, who is already working with a thin squad as the club juggle their domestic league and continental commitments.

Zamalek sit third in the league standings on 13 points, five behind leaders Pyramids FC, who have won all six of their matches to collect 18 points.
