Zamalek have pulled off a smart double transfer from Saudi side Al-Raed, landing Moroccan striker Karim El Berkaoui and Algerian winger Yousri Bouzouk ahead of the summer window.
Berkaoui joins the Cairo giants on a free transfer after reaching an agreement to part ways with Al-Raed, who sit bottom of the Roshan Pro League and are heading for relegation to the Yellow League. With just 21 points and a nine-point gap from safety, the Saudi club’s position has triggered an exodus of top talent.
According to Saudi outlet Al-Sharq Al-Awsat, Zamalek also struck a deal with Al-Raed to buy out the remainder of Bouzouk’s contract, ensuring both players arrive before the window officially opens.
The Cairo club is pushing to reinforce its squad as it eyes a return to the top tier of Egyptian football. Management is determined to match the ambitious moves of arch-rivals Al Ahly, who have made headlines with a string of high-profile signings in recent months.
Zamalek’s fans will hope this is just the beginning of a busy transfer season.
