Zamalek’s push for early momentum in the Egyptian Premier League was slowed on Saturday night as they played out a frustrating goalless draw with Arab Contractors at Cairo International Stadium.
Zamalek tried to take charge from the outset, but their lack of sharpness in the final third left fans restless and gave the visitors confidence to stick to their plan.
Belgian coach Yannick Ferreira watched his side press forward with little effect, while Mohamed Mekky’s Arab Contractors remained disciplined and compact. Zamalek’s best first-half moments came through Adi Al-Dabbagh and Omar Gaber, but both chances were denied by Mahmoud Abu Al-Saud and a solid defense.
The second half saw Ferreira introduce Juan Alvina and Nasser Mansi in search of a breakthrough. Alvina’s energy down the flank created half-chances, yet Zamalek still lacked a finishing touch. Nabil Emad Dunga’s injury added to their troubles, forcing more changes.
Arab Contractors, determined to escape with something, stood firm until the final whistle. Zamalek now sit on four points in fourth place, while Contractors celebrated their first point of the season.
