Zamalek’s 2009 football team secured a positive draw against English side Aston Villa with a scoreline of 2-2 in a compelling match held at Zed Stadium in New Cairo on Wednesday evening.
The encounter marked the inaugural fixture of the second group stage in the Zed International Youth Friendly Cup.
The goals for Zamalek were skillfully netted by Ahmed Ibrahim and Ahmed Mohamed Lemloum, showcasing the young talents’ prowess on the field.
The team exhibited a stellar performance throughout the match, notching up two goals and creating several substantial opportunities.
However, a red card for one of Zamalek’s players in the second half shifted the dynamics, allowing the English team to equalize.
The match witnessed the presence of Hussein El Sayed and Mohamed Tarek, members of the board of directors, alongside Mohamed Helmy, the Head of Youth Sectors, and Gamal Hamza, the Sector’s Technical Director, along with Hazem Imam, the Deputy Technical Director.
Leading the 2009 Zamalek team is Islam Adel as the Head Coach, assisted by Ismail Nouh Adam and Hassan Latfy as coaching staff.
Walid Abdel Kareem takes on the role of goalkeeping coach, with Ashraf Mahmoud overseeing injuries and rehabilitation, Ahmed Mahwarb managing administrative tasks, and Youssef Sayed responsible for duties.
The Zed International Youth Friendly Tournament features the participation of eight local and European clubs, namely Zamalek, Arab Contractors, Zed FC, Pyramids, Aston Villa (England), Vitoria Guimaraes (Portugal), Galatasaray (Turkey), and Sporting Braga (Portugal).
Zamalek competes in Group Two alongside Pyramids, Aston Villa (England), and Vitoria (Portugal), adding an extra layer of excitement and anticipation to the tournament’s unfolding narrative.
The youthful display of talent and sportsmanship is set to leave an indelible mark on the international stage, underscoring the potential of these budding football stars.
