Zamalek pay €100,000 to Ferjani Sassi as club moves to settle outstanding debt
Zamalek have paid former midfielder Ferjani Sassi €100,000 as part of an agreement to settle the outstanding money owed to the Tunisia international, according to Egyptian media personality Dina Selim.
The payment represents one of the scheduled instalments agreed between the Egyptian club and their former player, with the remaining balance expected to be cleared through further payments under the settlement arrangement.
Selim disclosed the development during televised comments, saying the instalment had been transferred within the agreed timeframe.
The payment is part of Zamalek’s efforts to meet their financial commitments to former players and resolve outstanding disputes without allowing the situation to escalate further.
Zamalek meet latest payment obligation to Sassi
According to Selim, the club completed the €100,000 payment in line with the terms agreed with Sassi.
She said: “The payment of the installment came on time according to the settlement agreement, as part of the Zamalek administration’s efforts to fulfill its financial obligations, settle the files related to the dues of former players, and avoid any new escalation in this matter.”
The payment follows an agreement between both parties to spread the outstanding amount over a series of instalments rather than settle the entire debt at once.
For Zamalek, meeting the agreed deadlines is an important part of bringing the financial dispute to an end.
The latest transfer also demonstrates the club’s continued efforts to address payments owed to players who previously represented the team.
Sassi, who formerly played for the Cairo-based club, had been involved in a financial dispute over unpaid dues following his departure.
Sassi agreed to waive €200,000
The settlement was reached after Sassi agreed to give up €200,000 from the total amount owed to him.
Former Zamalek midfielder Tarek Hamed reportedly played an important role in helping the two parties reach an agreement and bring the dispute closer to resolution.
Following Sassi’s decision to waive part of his money, the outstanding amount was reduced to €400,000.
The remaining sum was then scheduled to be paid in instalments under the agreement reached between the player and the club.
The latest €100,000 payment forms part of that arrangement, with Zamalek continuing to work towards clearing the remaining obligations.
Zamalek continue efforts to resolve former players’ dues
The agreement with Sassi is part of the club’s efforts to address financial matters involving former players.
Rather than allowing the dispute to develop into another confrontation, the two parties settled on a payment schedule that gives Zamalek time to meet its obligations while ensuring that Sassi receives the agreed amount.
Selim’s comments indicate that the club has so far kept to the payment timetable, with the latest instalment arriving as scheduled.
The former Tunisia international had agreed to reduce his claim by €200,000, bringing the outstanding debt down to €400,000 before payments under the settlement arrangement.
Zamalek’s latest €100,000 payment therefore represents another step towards completing the agreement.
The remaining balance is still to be paid in instalments, meaning the club must continue meeting the agreed deadlines to bring the matter to a full conclusion.
For now, the latest payment marks progress in the settlement process between Zamalek and their former midfielder.
