Zamalek faces player fatigue and requests league match delay after tight schedule
Zamalek is in a crisis as the team is scheduled to play three matches within just seven days, including a challenging away game in South Africa.
The busy stretch begins with their Confederation Cup opener against Zesco United on November 23. Only three days later, Zamalek faces Smoha in the Egyptian Premier League, with little recovery time before traveling to face Kaizer Chiefs in South Africa for another cup game.
This hectic schedule puts enormous pressure on the players, risking fatigue and injuries. With so little time between matches and a long flight ahead, Zamalek’s management has officially petitioned the Egyptian Professional Clubs Association to postpone the Smoha fixture. Their goal is to give the squad enough rest and preparation time, ensure peak fitness, and avoid any harm before the important African clash.
The club also cited recent confusion over award ceremony behavior to emphasize the need for discipline and respect. Zamalek insists that quick action on their request will help maintain fair competition and player welfare, highlighting the mounting challenges Egyptian teams face on the regional stage.
