Zamalek face fresh blow with new transfer ban
Zamalek have been hit with yet another major setback as their player registration rights have been suspended once more—this time for three windows.
The ban stems from unpaid wages owed to former defender Yasser Hamad.
The Egyptian giants had only just cleared previous dues to ex-coach Jaime Pacheco and striker Khaled Bouteib, which allowed them to temporarily lift a prior suspension. Now, they are back in trouble.
Hamad, a Palestinian international, joined the club in the 2024 winter window. Despite featuring in only three games and clocking just 118 minutes, the club reportedly owes him EGP 1.7 million.
Board member Amr Adham confirmed the new suspension via the club’s official website and assured that the situation would be resolved swiftly.
“The suspension of the registration came due to the dues of Palestinian defender Yasser Hamad, estimated at EGP 1.7 million, which will be paid on Thursday to end the registration suspension,” Adham said.
Zamalek’s recent financial troubles now threaten their squad plans, as the club must first settle debts before considering new signings.
