Zamalek interim manager Ibrahim Salah is set to rely on four senior players when his side face ZED in the Egypt Capital Cup on Wednesday, 7 October.
The match will be played at Arab Contractors Stadium and marks Zamalek’s opening fixture in the competition.
According to FilGoal.com, goalkeeper Mahmoud El Shenawy, Seif Farouk Gaafar, Ahmed Hossam and El Sayed Osama are all expected to be included in the squad. The four players are among those from Zamalek’s first team who could feature against ZED.
Salah is overseeing the team for the Egypt Capital Cup fixture, with Zamalek preparing to use a number of young players in their first match of the tournament.
The club have been drawn in Group A alongside ZED, Wadi Degla, Tala’ea El Gaish and Al Ittihad Al Sakandary. The group-stage campaign begins with Zamalek’s meeting with ZED at Arab Contractors Stadium.
Preparation begins for Al Ahly derby
While preparations continue for the cup match, Zamalek manager Moataz Gamal has started planning for the league meeting with Al Ahly on Sunday.
FilGoal.com understands that Gamal has decided to take the squad into a five-day closed training camp ahead of the Egyptian Premier League derby.
Zamalek currently occupy second place in the league table with 13 points. They have the same number of points as third-placed Al Ahly, but sit above them on goal difference.
Pyramids lead the standings with a maximum 15 points.
