Zamalek have denied claims that they owe former defender Hesham Abdel Maguid any outstanding payments after the player warned the club he could complain to FIFA.

Abdel Maguid, who joined Ludogorets from Zamalek at the start of the current season, reportedly gave the Egyptian club 30 days to settle what he believes are unpaid dues before submitting a formal complaint to football’s world governing body.

However, a Zamalek source told FilGoal.com that no money remained outstanding.

“There are no overdue payments owed to Hesham Abdel Maguid by the club,” the source said.

“There was a clause in his contract allowing 10% of his payments to be deducted if the team did not win two competitions last season, which did not happen. There were also payments linked to him taking part in 50% of Egypt’s matches, and that condition was not met. In addition, there were some fines over the course of the season.”

The source added that Abdel Maguid had received the final part of his payments on 23 September.

“The player was paid the last portion of his dues on 23 September, so he has no other overdue payments,” the source said.

The claim follows comments from a person close to Abdel Maguid, who told FilGoal.com that the player had sent Zamalek a formal warning over an alleged debt of 800,000 Egyptian pounds.

“The player sent Zamalek a warning demanding his overdue payments, estimated at 800,000 Egyptian pounds, before filing a complaint with FIFA,” the source said.

Abdel Maguid had allegedly been told that his payment would be made alongside the outstanding money owed to other members of the squad.

“The player had been promised that his dues would be paid with those of the rest of the team, but he was surprised when no money was paid to him,” the source added.

“Hesham tried to contact the club’s management to find out what would happen to his payments, but received no response before sending the warning to the club.”

Abdel Maguid has since established himself at Ludogorets, making four appearances for the club since completing his move.

He was also included in the Egypt squad for the matches taking place during the current international break.
