Zamalek deny Hossam Abdelmaguid transfer fee was diverted to businessman after Ludogorets payment

Zamalek have denied reports that the first instalment of Hossam Abdelmaguid’s transfer to Bulgarian club Ludogorets was directed to a businessman who helped the Egyptian club settle its outstanding debts and secure an African licence.

Ludogorets paid the opening instalment of the deal on Monday morning, with the money deposited into Zamalek’s accounts, according to a club source who spoke to FilGoal.com.

“There is no truth to reports circulating over the past few hours that the value of Hossam Abdelmaguid’s transfer to Ludogorets was directed to a board member or a businessman in return for his contribution to the settlements reached by the club to obtain the African licence,” the source said.

“Hossam Abdelmaguid’s transfer dues have reached the club’s treasury, and the administration is keen to direct these funds towards the first team at the present time.”

The source added: “The administration is currently working to prepare the players’ outstanding payments so they can be paid in the coming days.”

Abdelmaguid joined Ludogorets during the current summer transfer window.

Zamalek are preparing to begin their Egyptian Premier League campaign against Al Ittihad Alexandria on Friday, 21 August.

The Cairo club won the league title last season for a record-extending 15th time in their history.
