Zamalek’s head coach Ahmed Abdel Raouf held a press conference ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup opener against Zesco United, dedicating the match to the memory of late club star Mohamed Sabry.

Abdel Raouf stressed, “We’ll fight for a big win as a tribute. The players will give everything.”

Discussing group dynamics, he said, “Zamalek is in a strong group with top teams. Each match is a battle, and we aim to honor our club’s history.” Despite some injuries from three matches in ten days, Abdel Raouf assured fans, “Everyone else is fully ready.”

He clarified goalkeeper selection: “Mohamed Sobhy missed the Super Cup due to injury, but Mohamed Awad stepped up. Both are number one in my mind.” Addressing rumors, he added, “Chico Banza was officially excused due to his brother’s passing, and Ochieng Baron’s delay is from travel issues.”

Abdel Raouf urged patience with local coaches, saying, “Egyptian coaches need time to prove themselves.” Team captain Omar Gaber echoed the desire for a strong start, and Zesco’s coach and player affirmed their preparedness and respect for Egyptian football.
