Zamalek brushed off criticism after Broksi friendly drama
Zamalek’s pre-season preparations took an unexpected twist following a 3-1 friendly victory over Broksi FC, as comments from Proxy’s coach Mohamed Hamed sparked debate.
The match, held on Friday, saw the club test their new recruits, including standout Abdel Hamid Maali, who found the net. Despite the win, Hamed’s post-match remarks about the squad’s lack of cohesion quickly made headlines and drew backlash from Zamalek supporters.
In response, Hamed defended his comments, explaining they were not meant to insult the Cairo giants. He clarified that his critique centered on timing and chemistry, not individual talent.
“After the end of the friendly match between Zamalek and Broksi, someone asked me a question about Zamalek’s new signings, and my response was that there was no harmony between them because the team is going through certain circumstances and is in a preparation period.”
“I praised Abdel Hamid Maali. He’s a good signing and managed to score a goal during the match. However, I was surprised afterwards by a fierce attack against me. I didn’t transgress against Zamalek.”
He ended by expressing regret over the misunderstanding and emphasized his admiration for the club.
