Zamalek bolsters backroom staff with Portuguese analyst Fabio Nuno
Zamalek’s board, led by Hussein Labib and technical director John Edward, has appointed Portuguese coach Fabio Nuno as the new performance analyst, joining Ahmed Abdel Raouf’s technical team.
This addition comes as Zamalek looks to strengthen staff ahead of key upcoming fixtures.
Fabio Nuno officially started his role, contributing expertise in tactical and technical performance analysis of both opponents and Zamalek players. His arrival is timely, with the team preparing for a tough CAF Confederation Cup group stage opener against Zesco United at Cairo International Stadium, a match that marks the start of their campaign in a challenging Group D.
Angolan forward Chico Banza rejoined group training just before the game, having received official permission to return late after his brother’s passing. Abdel Raouf candidly discussed the group’s difficulty, noting, “Zamalek is in a tough group with strong teams. We play every match to win and honor the club’s history.” He praised his squad’s experience and assured fans, “We’re ready for any challenge ahead.”
Both captains and coaches from opposing sides have recognized this as a crucial start, with respect flowing for Zamalek’s reputation and ambitions on the continental stage.
