The Board of Directors of Zamalek Club has voiced strong dissatisfaction over what it describes as a series of refereeing errors affecting the team in recent matches.
The club stressed that its previous silence was not out of weakness but a deliberate choice aimed at protecting the integrity of local competitions, despite repeated controversial decisions against Zamalek and the intense schedule of domestic and continental tournaments.
The board highlighted the team’s Egypt Cup Round of 16 clash against Ceramica as a clear example of injustice, noting that the match was played under conditions that denied equal opportunities despite the club’s formal request for a postponement.
Zamalek, which represents Egypt in continental competition, claims the game was influenced by prior actions that seemingly predetermined the outcome.
Questions were also raised over the late announcement of the refereeing team—revealed only after midnight before the match—as well as the failure to appoint an international team for video assistant refereeing (VAR).
Holding the Egyptian Football Association accountable, Zamalek has demanded a full review of the match footage, disciplinary measures against the refereeing team, and a prohibition against assigning them to future matches involving the club. An official complaint will be submitted to the association.
The board emphasized that it will not remain passive if Zamalek loses titles due to perceived unfair decisions.
It vowed to pursue all legal avenues to protect the club’s rights and those of its supporters, warning that any attempt to overlook Zamalek’s grievances would be met with determined action.
