Tensions rise within Zamalek Sporting Club as sources confirm that some members of the board are opposed to Mo’tamed Gamal’s continued role as the head coach until the end of the season.
In an exclusive statement to “Al-Bawaba News” on Thursday evening, the source revealed that the rejection stems from the significant pressures faced by the local coach from Zamalek’s fans in every domestic and African match.
Furthermore, the board members argue that the influence over Zamalek’s stars on and off the field is more robust with a foreign coach than a local one from within Zamalek’s ranks.
The source emphasized that the board welcomes Mo’tamed Gamal’s continuity as the second man, serving as the assistant coach.
However, his continuation as the head coach faces resistance from some members. Those opposing the decision advocate for hiring a top-notch foreign coach to lead Zamalek in the CAF Confederation Cup and assist the team in clinching the title.
This is in addition to preparing for the Egyptian Cup final against Al Ahly in March and navigating through the remaining matches in the Premier League.
It is worth noting that Zamalek’s board has signed a temporary contract with Mo’tamed Gamal until securing a deal with a foreign super coach in the near future.
The ongoing debate within the club’s leadership highlights the strategic decisions crucial for Zamalek’s success in the upcoming tournaments and league competitions.
