Ahmed Suleiman, a board member of Zamalek SC, has disclosed surprising details about the exclusion of Al-Ahly player Imam Ashour from the Egyptian national team during recent fixtures.
In a televised interview, Suleiman explained that Ashour’s absence from the squad for matches against Botswana and Cape Verde was the result of an agreement between the player, Al-Ahly, and the national team’s technical staff, led by coach Hossam Hassan.
Suleiman suggested that there were undisclosed factors influencing the decision.
Imam Ashour is a key player for both Al-Ahly and the national team,” Suleiman stated, calling on the technical staff to clarify the reasons behind the exclusion.
This development follows disciplinary action taken by Al-Ahly, which fined Ashour one million Egyptian pounds and suspended him from group training for a week after an incident involving team captain Mohamed El-Shennawy.
Suleiman’s revelations add intrigue to the situation, raising questions about the dynamics between the club, the national team, and the player.
