Zamalek board did not discuss sporting director appointment or football company

A Zamalek source has told FilGoal.com that the club’s board did not discuss appointing Hossam Al-Zanaty as sporting director or the establishment of a football company during its latest meeting.

The board meeting took place shortly before the source revealed the details, with discussions focused on other matters.

“Zamalek’s board of directors did not discuss appointing Hossam Al-Zanaty as sporting director of the club, and there was no discussion about the football company,” the source told FilGoal.com.

The source also said the board had not considered how the money from the sale of Juan Bezerra would be spent.

“Likewise, the board did not discuss the areas in which the money from Bezerra’s sale would be spent, but the priority remains paying the players’ outstanding dues, and that will happen during the current week,” the source added.

Zamalek previously announced that Brazilian forward Juan Bezerra would join UAE club Shabab Al Ahli Dubai.

The Egyptian club agreed several days ago to allow Bezerra to travel to the UAE for a medical examination, after the player had expressed his desire to complete the move.

In a statement issued through its media centre, Zamalek said its board, chaired by Hussein Labib, had reached an agreement over Bezerra’s transfer to Shabab Al Ahli Dubai.

The statement said the agreement was reached after the UAE club met the conditions set by Zamalek when negotiations began during this summer’s transfer window.

FilGoal.com later learned that Bezerra had passed his medical examination before the move was officially announced.

The Brazilian arrived in Cairo on Saturday evening after previously refusing to return to begin pre-season preparations. His decision was linked to his wish to move to Shabab Al Ahli Dubai.

Zamalek had made the player’s return to Cairo a condition before it would enter discussions about his future with the club.

A source from Zamalek had also previously told FilGoal.com that Shabab Al Ahli Dubai increased its offer to sign the player.

Bezerra played 44 matches in all competitions last season, scoring eight goals and providing 12 assists.

He won the Egyptian league with Zamalek last season, while the club lost the Confederation Cup final on penalties.
