Zamalek appeal FIFA ruling ordering $600,000 payment to Abdelhamid Maaly

Zamalek have appealed against a FIFA ruling ordering the Egyptian club to pay Abdelhamid Maaly $600,000, a club source has told FilGoal.com.

Maaly joined Zamalek at the start of the 2025-26 season but terminated his contract unilaterally after delays in receiving his financial dues.

“Zamalek have appealed against FIFA’s decision in the Abdelhamid Maaly case,” the source said. “The previous ruling ordered the club to pay the player $600,000.”

The source added that FIFA issued its decision on the 31st, while the reasons for the ruling reached Zamalek on 31 August.

The club was given 21 days from the date on which it received the reasons to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

“FIFA’s decision granted the club 21 days from the date the reasons were issued to appeal before the Court of Arbitration for Sport,” the source said.

“That is what happened, and the club paid the appeal fees before the deadline expired.”

The source said the FIFA ruling did not include disciplinary sanctions and claimed Zamalek’s appeal could help reduce the punishment.

“The decision issued by FIFA contains no disciplinary sanctions,” the source said. “The appeal will be in Zamalek’s interests and will contribute to reducing the penalty.”

Maaly made nine appearances for Zamalek but did not score or provide an assist during his time with the club.

He joined Moroccan side Ittihad Tanger after ending his contract with Zamalek.
