Zamalek add Mohamed Hamad and Mohamed Farag to squad for Al Ahly derby

Mohamed Hamad and Mohamed Farag have joined Zamalek’s training camp ahead of Sunday’s Egyptian Premier League meeting with Al Ahly.

The Cairo rivals will face each other at Cairo Stadium on Sunday, 11 October, in the sixth round of the league.

FilGoal.com understands that both players were added to Zamalek’s camp as preparations continue for the derby.

Hamad has made one appearance for Zamalek this season, featuring against Al Ittihad Al Sakandary in the opening round of the Egyptian Premier League. He played 11 minutes in a match that ended goalless.

The midfielder also helped Egypt’s youth team win the North Africa Under-20 Championship, securing qualification for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana. Egypt sealed the title with a 2-0 victory over Algeria in the final round.

Farag, meanwhile, played for Zamalek in their Egypt Capital Cup group-stage opener against ZED last Wednesday.

Zamalek were beaten 3-0 in that match, with Farag playing 87 minutes.

Zamalek and Al Ahly are level on 13 points in second place in the league, although Zamalek lead the standings between the two sides on goal difference.

Pyramids are top of the table on 15 points.
