Zakaria El Ouahdi: AC Milan linked with Genk and Morocco right-back

Moroccan-Belgian defender Zakaria El Ouahdi is being linked with a move from Genk to AC Milan, with the Serie A club monitoring the 24-year-old right-back.

El Ouahdi has been a Genk player since September 2023 and is contracted to the Belgian club until 30 June 2028. His market value is listed at €17m, although no transfer fee has been established for a potential move to Italy.

Born in Hoboken, Belgium, El Ouahdi is eligible to represent both Morocco and Belgium and has featured in Morocco’s youth and Olympic set-ups. He helped Morocco’s under-23 side win the Africa Cup of Nations in 2023 and was part of the Olympic team that finished third in Paris the following year.

The reported interest from AC Milan would represent a move from Belgium’s Jupiler Pro League to Serie A for a player whose primary position is right-back and whose preferred foot is his right.

El Ouahdi’s current contract means Genk remain in a strong position regarding his future, with more than a season remaining on the agreement. The rumour has not been confirmed by either club, and there is no indication yet that formal negotiations have begun.
