Zakaria Derai: Algerian midfielder joins ASM Oran on free transfer from MO Bejaia
Algerian midfielder Zakaria Derai has joined ASM Oran on a free transfer from MO Bejaia. The 35-year-old central midfielder moves after two seasons with Bejaia, strengthening the Oran clubs options in the middle of the pitch.
Derai, born on 21 May 1991, signs for ASM Oran after his contract with MO Bejaia came to an end, allowing him to complete the switch without a fee. The move keeps the experienced campaigner in Algerian football and marks the latest step in a career spent across several domestic clubs.
The midfielder arrived at MO Bejaia in August 2024, also on a free transfer, after a spell with RC Kouba. During his time at Bejaia he featured in national cup competition, including two appearances in the Coupe dAlgerie in which he played the full 90 minutes on both occasions.
Before joining Kouba in 2023, Derai turned out for Olympique Akbou and RC Boumerdes, building a reputation as a reliable central presence. His early senior career included a stint at IB Lakhdaria, from where he first moved on to Boumerdes in 2019.
Derais arrival gives ASM Oran an experienced option in central midfield as they shape their squad for the new campaign. The transfer has been finalised as a free move, with the player now registered as an ASM Oran midfielder.
