Zakaria Bakkali Eyes Redemption at Valencia After PSV Fallout
After a turbulent spell at PSV Eindhoven, Zakaria Bakkali is eager to turn the page and reignite his promising career. The 19-year-old Belgian international, of Moroccan descent, has joined Valencia CF with one clear objective: a return to the national team in time for Euro 2016.
Speaking about his difficult time in the Netherlands, Bakkali didn’t mince words.
“PSV Eindhoven had decided to block me from playing. The club wanted to make a disciplinary example of me,” he explained. “It was a very tough period because I couldn’t play with the first team. It wasn’t about money — it was purely a sporting matter.”
Now in Spain, Bakkali is focused on the future.
“That’s all in the past. I’m at Valencia now to completely relaunch myself. My goal is to return to the Red Devils and be part of the squad for Euro 2016.”
Having shown flashes of brilliance early in his career, Bakkali hopes this move to La Liga will be the fresh start he needs to fulfill his potential and silence the critics.
