Zaidu Sanusi linked with potential move to Atalanta from FC Porto

Italian side Atalanta BC are monitoring a potential summer move for Nigerian international Zaidu Sanusi, with the club reportedly working behind the scenes to explore a deal for the FC Porto left-back.

With the transfer window set to open in the coming days, Atalanta are among several European clubs already positioning themselves in the market.

Sources indicate that the Serie A club have made contact with FC Porto regarding Sanusi’s situation, despite the defender being under contract until June 2027.

The Italian side are understood to be keen to strengthen their defensive options, with Sanusi identified as a player who could add depth and stability at left-back. Discussions are said to be ongoing at an early stage, with no agreement yet reached between the clubs.

Sanusi, 28, has also been involved in conversations with FC Porto over a possible contract extension. However, it is believed the Portuguese club could be open to offers for the player this summer should a bid in the region of €7 million be submitted.

The Nigerian international has featured regularly this season, making 17 appearances in the Portuguese top flight, where he has registered one goal and one assist. Overall, he has earned 30 caps at international level for Nigeria, underlining his experience on the European stage.

Atalanta’s interest comes as they prepare for the final stretch of their Serie A campaign, with their attention currently also on their 38th league fixture against Fiorentina.

The club’s recruitment plans are expected to accelerate once the season concludes, with defensive reinforcements believed to be a priority.

Sanusi’s market valuation is currently estimated at around €3 million, according to Transfermarkt, though any potential transfer fee would likely depend on negotiations between the two clubs and the player’s contractual situation.

For now, the situation remains open, with Atalanta continuing to assess their options ahead of what could be a busy summer window in Bergamo.
