Zahir Belounis, the Franco-Algerian footballer who was held in Qatar for two years, has won his case against his club Al Jaish. Belounis had faced a revoked work permit and visa by his club for several months, leading to a protracted legal battle. He sought help through an SOS letter to football figures like Zinedine Zidane and Pep Guardiola, who are ambassadors for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Following negotiations by a delegation from Fifpro (International Federation of Professional Footballers), Belounis has finally been granted an exit visa. His brother announced on Twitter that Zahir is expected to arrive in France on Friday morning.
