Youssoufa Moukoko’s loan spell at OGC Nice will come to an end, as the French club has decided not to exercise the €17 million purchase option in his contract.
Signed in late August for the 2024/25 season, the move was meant to provide the talented 19-year-old with more playing time, something Borussia Dortmund couldn’t guarantee him at the time. However, Moukoko has struggled to secure minutes on the pitch, leaving his potential largely untapped.
Despite his promise, the young forward has found himself sidelined, and Nice will not pursue a permanent deal. Reports from Sky indicate that Moukoko will return to Dortmund in the summer of 2025, though rumors suggest Nice could even cut the loan short in January. Celta Vigo is reportedly interested in taking him on loan if that happens.
Moukoko made his professional debut for Borussia Dortmund in 2020 at just 16 years old, quickly becoming one of the Bundesliga’s brightest young talents. Now, his future seems set for a return to Germany, as he looks to rediscover his form at Dortmund.
