Real Betis defender Youssouf Sabaly will be sidelined for several weeks after sustaining an injury, the club confirmed in a statement on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. The Senegalese international has been absent from action since September 13, and his condition has now been officially diagnosed by the club’s medical team.

In a press release, Real Betis provided details of the injury, stating: “Following the examinations carried out by the Club’s medical service on our player Youssouf Sabaly, a grade I injury to the soleus muscle of the right leg has been confirmed.”

However, the club did not specify the exact duration of Sabaly’s absence, leaving it dependent on the progression of his recovery.

Although the club refrained from offering a timeline, local media in Spain are reporting that Sabaly could be out for a minimum of three weeks.

If his recovery proceeds smoothly, there is a possibility that the right-back could make a return to the pitch before the end of October.

This uncertainty surrounding his comeback has left fans and the coaching staff hopeful for a speedy recovery but cautious in their expectations.

Sabaly, who has been a key figure in Real Betis’ defense, made four appearances for the club this season before being struck by the injury.

His absence will undoubtedly be felt as Betis navigates the next few weeks of their La Liga campaign. Manager Manuel Pellegrini now faces the challenge of adjusting his defense in Sabaly’s absence, as the club looks to maintain its early season momentum.

The 31-year-old defender, who joined Real Betis in 2021, has been an integral part of the team’s backline.

Known for his defensive solidity and ability to contribute offensively, Sabaly’s injury is a significant blow to Betis, especially with key matches on the horizon.

His absence will test the depth of the squad and could provide opportunities for other players to step up in his place.

For Sabaly, the focus will now shift to recovery, with medical staff closely monitoring his progress.

While the player himself will undoubtedly be eager to return, it is crucial that he avoids rushing back too soon, as muscle injuries of this nature can be prone to recurrence if not managed carefully.

As Real Betis continues their campaign, they will be hoping that Sabaly’s injury heals without complications, allowing him to return to full fitness and rejoin the team at a crucial stage of the season.

In the meantime, the club’s supporters will be awaiting updates on his rehabilitation, while the team works to adapt in his absence.
