YOUSSOUF MULUMBU: “CLAUDE LE ROY MUST RETURN TO THE HEAD OF THE DRC SELECTION!

Claude Leroy

Youssouf Mulumbu, the West Bromwich player and captain of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) national team, has commented on the resignation of Claude Le Roy as the head coach of the team. Le Roy stepped down following the team’s disappointing performance in the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) and a subsequent draw against Libya in the 2014 World Cup qualifying match.

Mulumbu expressed his hope for Le Roy’s return to the coaching position, stating, “I was able to speak with him. I believe that he was also able to speak with the President of the Republic, and that he will stay in place. I really hope so.”

In addition to addressing the coaching situation, Mulumbu is actively working to persuade new talents to join the national team. He mentioned efforts to reach out to players such as Jirès Kembo-Ekoko, Cédric Bakambu, and Chris Mavinga. As the captain, Mulumbu has communicated with these players to encourage them to consider representing the DRC.

Mulumbu also mentioned that some players, including Eliaquim Mangala, are still contemplating their international futures, with a focus on the France national team. He highlighted that players such as Granddi Ngoyi and Fabrice N’Sakala from Troyes are awaiting decisions regarding their international allegiances. The captain’s efforts reflect the ongoing challenges and negotiations involved in building a competitive national team.
