Youssef Ouakkati: Morocco-born Spain striker returns to Atletic Lleida on free transfer

Dual-nationality forward Youssef Ouakkati has rejoined Atletic Lleida from Atletico Monzon on a free transfer, with the Spain-born Morocco player signing a deal until 30 June 2027.

The 26-year-old centre-forward makes his return to the Catalan club after a season away, having left Lleida for Monzon in the summer of 2024, also on a free. His latest move restores a familiar partnership between player and club, with Atletic Lleida opting for a longer commitment this time.

Ouakkati, who was born in Huesca and holds both Moroccan and Spanish nationality, previously enjoyed a productive spell with Atletic Lleida. In promotion play-off action to the Segunda Federacion, he scored four goals in nine appearances, averaging a strike roughly every two full matches, underlining his effectiveness through the middle of the attack.

Before his initial move to Lleida in 2022, Ouakkati had been on the books at FC Alcarras, building his reputation in the Spanish lower divisions. His ability to lead the line as an orthodox centre-forward has been a consistent feature across his senior career.

By bringing Ouakkati back on a free transfer and tying him down for the next year, Atletic Lleida have moved to secure a familiar attacking option ahead of the new campaign.
