Petrojet have completed the signing of Moroccan centre-back Youssef Limouri from COD Meknès on a free transfer, securing the 26-year-old defender on a deal running from 2026-02-04 to 2028-06-30. The move takes the Casablanca-born player out of his home country’s Botola Pro Inwi and into the Egyptian Premier League, marking the first overseas step of his professional career.
The transfer sees Petrojet acquire a defender currently valued at €550k without paying a fee, representing a significant piece of business for the Egyptian club. Limouri arrives directly from COD Meknès, whom he joined from Jeunesse Sportive de Soualem, and will now be registered as a Petrojet player for the duration of his new contract.
Limouri, a natural centre-back listed primarily as a defender in the heart of the back line, has built his career exclusively in Morocco until this move. Progressing from FUS Rabat Espoirs to FUS Rabat’s first team, then on to JS Soualem and subsequently COD Meknès, he has accumulated top-flight experience in the Botola Pro Inwi. His club path charts a steady climb through Moroccan football structures, from youth and reserve levels to established roles in senior squads.
His market value history underlines that development. After being valued at €50k while without a club at age 20, his worth rose sharply following his promotion to FUS Rabat, peaking at €450k during multiple spells with the Rabat side. A brief dip preceded a renewed rise at JS Soualem, where his valuation climbed back to €450k and then, after his move to COD Meknès, hit €550k in late 2025. Petrojet therefore acquire a defender whose value trend has been upwards in the period immediately preceding this transfer.
Internationally, Limouri is registered as Moroccan, and his entire senior career to date has unfolded within Morocco’s domestic structure. The switch to Egypt’s Premier League places him in a different footballing culture and competitive environment, where he will face new tactical demands and attacking profiles compared to the Botola Pro Inwi.
The free nature of the move also raises long-term implications for both clubs. COD Meknès lose a centre-back at the height of his current market value without direct financial compensation, potentially forcing them back into the domestic market or academy ranks to fill the gap. Petrojet, by contrast, add a defender in his mid-twenties with a rising valuation and no transfer fee, giving them potential sporting and future resale upside across the term of his contract.
Limouri’s journey from FUS Rabat Espoirs to the Egyptian Premier League illustrates a gradual but consistent upward trajectory. Now tied to Petrojet from 2026-02-04 to 2028-06-30, he enters a phase of his career that will test whether his growth in Morocco can translate to success abroad and possibly shape both his reputation and future opportunities in North African football.
