Youssef Chermiti: Rangers and Portugal-Tunisia forward linked with Lyon move
Portugal-Tunisia striker Youssef Chermiti, currently at Rangers, has been linked with a move to Ligue 1 side Lyon as the French club assess options to strengthen their attack.
Chermiti, 22, is valued at 15m and has emerged as one of Rangers key centre-forwards, wearing the number nine shirt and operating primarily through the middle. Standing at 1.92m and preferring his right foot, he offers a physical presence that would add a different profile to Lyons front line.
The forward joined Rangers from Everton on 1 September 2025 and has since seen his market value rise sharply, moving from 6m in December 2025 to 15m by May 2026, reflecting his development in the Scottish Premiership. His previous experience in the Premier League with Everton adds further top-flight pedigree to any potential deal.
Before moving to England, Chermiti came through Sporting CPs ranks, progressing from the youth sides to the first team and earning a transfer to Everton in August 2023. That pathway through one of Portugals leading academies, followed by spells in the Premier League and now Scotland, underlines the trajectory that has attracted interest from a major French club.
Chermiti was born in Santa Maria in the Azores on 24 May 2004 and holds both Portuguese and Tunisian nationality, adding potential international appeal alongside his club career. His blend of size, age and experience across three top European leagues makes him a notable name in the current market.
No agreement has been reached between Rangers and Lyon, and the rumour remains at an early stage, with Chermiti still a Rangers player as interest from France develops.
